“RACE To Be Human” is a documentary film and series addressing the impact of race, racism, and gender identity on mental health. On March 9, 2023, the City of Maple Valley and Tahoma School District will be hosting a virtual film screening and a discussion with the filmmakers via Zoom. This screening is an opportunity for our Tahoma Family to hear personal stories and experiences, and ultimately strengthen the sense of belonging in our community.
The film will examine bias, racial and gender inequity, as well as their impact on those around us. It will include strategies and tips for how we can identify our biases and exemplify empathy toward people with lived experiences different from our own.
