Emerald Theatre’s A Christmas Carol, co-produced by The Maple Valley Creative Arts Council, comes to the Maple Valley Creative Arts Center December 7 through December 14. The play remains true to the original Charles Dickens’ classic, published in 1843. It tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a miserly old man who learns the value of generosity and kindness after being visited on Christmas Eve by the ghost of deceased partner, Marley, and three ghosts who embody the spirit of Christmas.
Emerald Theatre’s production features twelve actors who bring to life a variety of characters. The themes of economic disparity, compassion and forgiveness ring as true today as they did two centuries ago.
The play is directed and adapted by Earlene DeLeon, Artistic Director for Emerald Theatre, who has also directed the company’s outdoor Summer Shakespeare, performed in Maple Valley, Covington and Auburn for the past three years.
