City of Maple Valley and Tahoma School District Partners with Care Solace to Transform Mental Health Care and Social Services Access

Community members now have access to mental health care and social service coordination at no cost.

City of Maple Valley, WA (October 1, 2024) – Understanding the profound impact of untreated mental health conditions, City of Maple Valley and Tahoma School District take an innovative step forward by partnering with Care Solace, a social purpose organization, to make access to mental health care easier than ever before. This transformative collaboration prioritizes mental and physical well-being for the entire community and provides easy access to a comprehensive network of providers and resources.

“Community resilience and mental health has been identified as a top priority by our city council. We are excited to offer this program ensuring residents can readily find the resources and support they need,” said Laura Philpot, City of Maple Valley City Manager. “We are proud to be the first City in the nation to launch a community and school hybrid program, which is a reflection of the strong partnership between the City of Maple Valley and Tahoma School District.”

As a central hub of care, Care Solace serves as a critical liaison between residents, school staff, families, social agencies, and community-based mental health providers. By streamlining communication and coordination, Care Solace promptly connects individuals with the right resources and appropriate care. Those seeking mental health care, as well as those requiring assistance with food, housing, affordable medical and dental care, now have a trusted companion to rely on.

“We are honored and excited to collaborate with the City of Maple Valley on our shared goal of providing access to mental health resources for students, their families, and our entire community,” said Ginger Callison, Superintendent of Tahoma School District. “Too often, limited access to care and resources makes it more difficult for students to reach their fullest potential in school and creates barriers for family members and other adults wishing to support them. We are looking forward to the positive benefits this partnership will bring to our entire community.”

With a team of 500+ dedicated Care Companions and a network of 560,000 licensed mental health and substance use treatment providers, Care Solace will help navigate the fragmented mental health care system on behalf of community members, helping them find the perfect fit for their needs. Available 24/7/365, Care Companions provide assistance in over 200 languages, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for the whole school community.

“Care Solace is proud to support the City of Maple Valley and Tahoma School District in prioritizing the well-being of its community, ” says Chad Castruita, Founder & CEO. “Care Solace exists to calm the chaos that often surrounds mental health crises, providing a supportive and compassionate framework to help individuals regain control of their lives.”
