The Latest on the Temporarty Injuntion of the DOL's Overtime Rule

A federal appeals court will review the temporary injunction blocking new overtime regulations on an expedited schedule that wraps things up even faster than the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) had requested. But it still won't reach a decision until after President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration, and that could mean the end of the overtime rule, according to some experts. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals granted DOL's motion for expedited review December 8. The court scheduled most briefing deadlines as DOL had requested but slated final briefs for January 31, rather than the proposed February 7. (State of Nevada v. SAVE THE DATE - FISHING DERBY

Time to get ready for the annual "Hooked on Fishing" event at Lake Wilderness. The fun starts on Friday, April 21st through Saturday, April 22nd. This year marks the 15th annual "Hooked On Fishing" Opening Day Trout Derby on Lake Wilderness. This is actually an event that spans generations of opening day enthusiasts. The Maple Valley Lion's Club originally sponsored the derby decades ago until 1994. In 2003 when the City of Maple Valley acquired the park from King County, a partnership was forged by the chamber, Maple Valley Rotary, and The City to bring the traditional opening day celebration back to Lake Wilderness. Where else can you go so close to home to camp out all night, enter a derby, and eat a ham and egg breakfast with all you can eat pancakes at midnight under the stars?
