New Chamber President's Welcome Letter

Posted by Erica Dial

Hello fellow MVBD Chamber Members!

My name is Brett Habenicht and I am the incoming president of your Greater Maple Valley-Black Diamond Chamber of Commerce.  I wanted to introduce myself and give you all a little background on where I’m from, what I do and why the chamber and our greater community are so important to me.

I’ve called Maple Valley home my entire life and it was here and in Black Diamond where I learned at an early age just how local business contributes to the vibrancy and quality of life within our communities.  As a kid, I was fortunate to work for several small business owners and experienced first-hand the positive impact that a “community invested” business has on a community.  This lesson has stuck with me and is more meaningful today than ever before.  We’ll talk more about what “Community Invested” means throughout the year.  It’s a game changer for all of us.

As your Chamber of Commerce President for the next year, my first order of business will be to help instill and nurture a sense of inclusivity among membership and the greater community.  I will be encouraging, coaching and cajoling you all to get involved in some way that speaks to YOUR heart.  Perhaps it’s some volunteer time at the food bank, a chamber board position, a city commission seat or even just helping others make connections through your business or referring customers to other Chamber members or services.    My desire to create an inclusive, dynamic, fun and completely transparent Chamber,  while also creating equity and value for our members is my top priority.  I believe that service to others is the greatest calling we can ever answer and I promise to help you and your business in any way I can.

With all of this in mind, I would like to invite you to the Chamber Gala as a “warm-up” to get to know each other and to enjoy the company of your fellow Chamber members in a relaxed, inviting and fun atmosphere.  The date of the Gala is September 14 and it will be held at Rein Fire Ranch.  The theme this year is “Solid Gold 70’s”, so get out your polyester pantsuits and platform shoes and get ready for a party!  Seriously.  It’s going to be epic.

Again, if there is ever anything I can do for you or help you with, do not hesitate to call.  I look forward to spending some time with you and learning more about you, your business and your goals.

If you have any questions about the Chamber or want to know more about the Gala or other events, please feel free to call the Chamber office to chat with our CEO, Erica Dial or our Executive Assistant, Kathryn Thelen at 425-432-0222.   These two are absolutely amazing to work with and an incredible resource for members.

I’ll see you soon!

Yours Truly,

Brett Habenicht
